Contact Tracing: Savannah, GA
MCG students, alongside students from Mercer University School of Medicine, are volunteering with the Coastal Health District to trace and provide guidance to individuals who have come into contact with patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals, with the help of the medical students, are enrolled in an online health monitoring program so that they can document their symptoms and receive information regarding safe and effective self-isolation protocols. Additionally, students facilitate follow up with primary care providers after symptom resolution.

Telemedicine Support Services
Communication between healthcare workers and their patients is essential, and its importance is even greater in times such as these. MCG students are actively volunteering with local medical practices to facilitate patient communication with their providers and improve access to healthcare in efforts to relieve some of the burden that hospitals in the community are currently experiencing.

Fundraising for care packages for healthcare workers
Mirroring the care packages initiative that began at the Augusta campus, a group of SE campus students have come together to support local healthcare workers. Through fundraising, they are producing care packages containing various snacks and drinks in addition to thank you cards to boost the morale of doctors, nurses, and other essential healthcare personnel throughout these dangerous and uncertain times. A GoFundMe can be found at the bottom of this page.
