Northwest Campus
Our NW campus students are volunteering throughout the community and tracking cases of COVID-19 in their region. Students are working with the Georgia Department of Public Health. They respond to physicians who want their patients to be tested for COVID-19 and determine whether they meet current triage criteria.
Current Research on COVID-19
MCG students at the Northwest Campus are recruiting individuals for a convalescent plasma study to potentially treat individuals with severe cases of COVID-19.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19, are within driving distance of Rome, Georgia, and would like to donate plasma, please visit www.plasmatx.org to check your eligibility and sign up for our convalescent plasma study. We need you!
About the study: Due to limited anti-virals, limited ICU capacity, and many months before a vaccine, COVID-19 puts the general public at risk, especially those with co-morbidities. Convalescent plasma from recovered individuals has been used as a treatment for H1N1 and previous coronaviruses including SARS and MERS. Convalescent plasma may be most beneficial as prophylaxis.
If you have not had COVID-19 but still want to help the convalescent plasma initiative, Plasma Tx is charitably funded and is in need of your assistance to continue leading the way for small and medium communities across the country. We have a volunteer board and no patient will ever receive a bill from us. Donations can be made at this link: https://www.plasmatx.org/contributions
